July 04, 2026 : July Jubilee
What a fun, great day for the Real County Historical Museum! To celebrate America’s 250 years, we decided to pay tribute to the Founding Fathers & Mothers with our float titled, “Pioneers of the Past!” We honored 15 people from the history of the Canyon. These were people who played an important part in the growth of the area. The participation was phenomenal! We had two drivers, Colten and Carsen, plus historical research, finding people to play the parts, costumes, and then we decided we needed to put our antique buggy on the flatbed trailer. Thanks to Mario, Lupe, Bryan, Tracye, Connie, Sheryl, Clay, Mary Jane, Julie, Mary, Martha, Jessica, and the rest of the board for coming together to make sure it all happened. Our float won First Place Non-Profit!
We will be paying tribute to all the people represented on the float with a biography and a bit about the reenactor who played them. These will be in individual posts, hopefully one post, once a week! I will begin with the children first. There will be a post on FB announcing the biographies as I get them on this web page.
Thank you, America, and thank you, Texas and Real County.
Parade Group
During the parade, having fun
Can you tell who was not the winner? Yes, we know it is two different categories: Non-Profit and Business, but it is a fun thing between the museum and the Leakey Inn, Backporch, and this year the museum had the highest place
The Notorious Brice Gang, wanted in 17 different counties!
Waiting for the Parade to start!
